She may be one of the most sought-after models in the industry but Cara Delevingne has revealed that she is not passionate about her day job.

The 22-year-old British star has admitted her aspirations have always been for the big screen and not the catwalk.

Speaking to People magazine, Delevingne said: “I’ve always wanted to be an actress, more than anything in the world. Modelling was never a passion of mine.”

She added that despite fronting campaigns for brands including Burberry, Chanel and Topshop modelling “wasn’t something that made my heart beat and built a fire inside of me”.

And if the praise that Delevingne recently received from John Green – who penned Paper Towns, which has been transformed into a film featuring the budding actress – is anything to go by, she will soon be a multifaceted force to be reckoned with.

Green said: “Cara is an amazing actress. Legitimately. All of the constructions we have of supermodels are deconstructed by Cara in the course of the film.”

Meanwhile, Delevingne is continuing to add to her acting credentials with a cameo appearance in ‘Zoolander 2’, the Justin Theroux-directed sequel to the 2001 comedy film starring Ben Stiller, as well as a part in upcoming fantasy film Pan.

She is also busy launching her singing career and a few new projects, including creating a collection of handbags for Mulberry and launching the Cara D for DKNY capsule collection.
