Willowy and graceful, Canadian Sasha Hronis seems like a natural fit for modeling, but it wasn’t until her mother convinced her of her potential that Hronis felt compelled to give fashion a try. “My mom wanted me to model so badly,” Hronis tells Style.com. “My grandma had wanted her to model, but she never did. At first I wasn’t sure about it, but by 12th grade she’d convinced me, and I started doing test shoots here and there.”

The test shoots led to local work in her home city of Toronto, but once Hronis finished high school, she realized it was time to make her way on the international market. Her debut season introduced her to casting director Ashley Brokaw, a meeting that landed her in Rag & Bone’s Fall show alongside a couple of her closest model pals. “Rag & Bone was probably my favorite show that I did last season. I got to work with my friend Irina Shnitman, who is hilarious, and it’s always great to share these experiences with someone else,” says Hronis. The show also provided her with an eye-catching transformation, trading her typical girly style for Rag & Bone’s streetwise look. “This job allows us the chance to see ourselves in so many different looks—I’ll see pictures of myself from the shows and think, Maybe I should try this thing, maybe I should try that. In a way, I’m teaching myself about fashion via modeling,” she adds.

With turns at Edun, Carolina Herrera, and ICB last season, Hronis’ runway career is off to a good start, but there’s still one gig she’d love to tackle in the near future. “I would love to do Victoria’s Secret,” she says. “I remember my mom and my aunt getting the catalogs when I was younger and just being captivated by the Angels. Adriana Lima is stunning—who wouldn’t want to follow in those footsteps?”
